Governor Richardson Declares Drought Emergency.
Las Campanas Limited Partnership continues to use 1.4 million gallons of fresh water daily from the City of Santa Fe’s Buckman wells to sprinkle irrigate its two private golf courses.
Mayor Delgado and the Santa Fe City Council look the other way and continually warn Santa Fe home-owners of more severe water restrictions.
The quantity of fresh water being used by Las Campanas Limited Partnership (LCLP) daily to water its two private golf courses that are located outside of the City of Santa Fe is the equivalent of the amount of fresh water used by 6,000 average households in Santa Fe!
If this quantity of fresh water was made available to Santa Feans the City would derive an additional $153,000 each month due to the disparity in City water charges to LCLP and Santa Fe residents and businesses.
Currently under Stage 2 of the Emergency Water Shortage Restrictions Santa Feans are only allowed to water on three specified days each week between 6 PM and 10 AM while LCLP waters everyday without limit at hours of its own choosing.
This is not fair and why are Mayor Delgado and the City Council not speaking out against this injustice?
