New Mexico Environmental Law Center Complaint In Intervention

Las Campanas Golf Course - July 2002
This Complaint In Intervention by the New Mexico Environmental Las Center seeks a court order declaring that Las Campanas is required by the City Lease of Water Facilities and the County Development Agreement to comply with and abide by the restrictions, on use of City supplied water, imposed by the City Water Shortage Emergency Ordinance now and in the future.
"If Las Campanas does not comply with the City’s restrictions on the use of City water, the City could be forced to impose Stage 4 Water Emergency restrictions as early as next year. That would result in a situation in which virtually all users of City supplied water would be prohibited from outdoor watering while Las Campanas continued to water its golf courses, using greater amounts of City supplied water than would be allowed under the Stage 3 Water Emergency restrictions. Such a situation would likely undermine the voluntary compliance with City supplied water use restrictions on which the City relies for the most part, and place the community in danger of running out of the water that it needs for sanitation and safety purposes".
